Sightseeing Thames River Cruise

Enjoy a complimentary hop-on hop-off Thames river cruise in London with City Cruises, worth upto £10, when you purchase a 24 or 48-hour sightseeing bus ticket from The Original Tour. London boat tours allow you to see the city from the river, in ways you could never experience it from land, so with a free Thames cruise included with your bus ticket you really do get the best of both worlds.

There are four piers across the whole route which include Westminster Pier, Tower Pier, London Eye Pier and Greenwich Pier. The Thames boat trips travel from Westminster Pier to Greenwich Pier but the routes you can take will depend on which bus ticket you have purchased.

24 hour ticket holders can take a Thames boat ride between Westminster Pier (next to “Big Ben”) and Tower Pier (next to the Tower of London).

48 hour ticket holders can also enjoy a Thames cruise between Westminster Pier (next to “Big Ben”) and Tower Pier (next to the Tower of London), with the addition of an extended Greenwich boat ride.

Once on board, listen to the commentary and enjoy the spectacular views of many attractions and sights including the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, the London Eye, Shakespeare’s Globe, the Houses of Parliament and "Big Ben".

Departures for the Thames Cruise

Thames boat cruises depart every 40 minutes. Once you are on board, listen to the commentary, grab a drink or snack from the cafe-bars and enjoy the spectacular views of London from the Thames. You can begin your London cruise from Westminster Pier or Tower Pier by giving your ticket to City Cruises’ staff and use your valid Original Tour bus ticket for subsequent journeys.

Westminster Pier

Westminster Pier is next to Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Bridge. It is easily accessed by taking the tube to Westminster or by using your Original Tour bus ticket and taking the Yellow Route to stop 13.

London Eye Pier

London Eye Pier is next to the London Eye, The London Dungeons and Jubilee Gardens. The closest tube to the London Eye is Waterloo or you can use your Original Tour bus ticket to take the Yellow Route from stop 5 or the Red or Pink Route from stop 68.

Tower Pier

Tower Pier is close to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge at Tower Hill. You can get to Tower Pier by taking the tube to Tower Hill or by taking the Yellow Route bus to stop 11 or the Red Route to stop 74.

Greenwich Pier

You can only take the extended Greenwich river Thames cruise with a 48-hour bus ticket from The Original Tour. Greenwich is further outside of the city and our bus tours do not go as far as Greenwich. So, we would recommend taking The Original Tour bus to Tower Hill and beginning your Greenwich boat trip from Tower Pier.

Sights on the London River Cruise

From the comfort of your Thames boat trip, you will see some magnificent attractions in London, with a completely different view from the river. These include:

The extended cruise to historic Greenwich, only included with your 48-hour bus ticket, allows you to hop off the boat at Greenwich where you can see the following sights:

  • Royal Observatory

  • The Cutty Sark

  • The Old Royal Naval College

  • Greenwich Park

  • National Maritime Museum
