At the world’s oldest scientific zoo, come and experience animals from all over the world. From big animals like gorillas and tigers, to butterflies and creepy crawlies, there is something for the whole family.
Top exhibits include Penguin Beach with daily feeding times, and the newly opened walk-through exhibit ‘Live! In with the Lemurs’ – get closer than ever before! With over 12,000 animals including rare and endangered species, you will not leave disappointed.
Home to a pride of endangered Asiatic lions, Land of the Lions features an awe-inspiring ‘windowless-view’ of the big cat’s enclosure. Enter the crumbling ruin of an amphitheatre-style Lion Temple and see the majestic big cats roaming just metres away, separated only by fine wires
Wander through a grand stone archway, before picking up your ‘park pass’ at the Gir Tourist Information centre. Then explore Sasan Gir Train Station - where the odd lion might be spotted snoozing on the tracks - or embark on a journey on the overhead walkway, to discover the troop of lively Hanuman langur monkeys, and gaze across the lions’ forest home.

Duration: 2 – 3 hours
Disabled Access: The Zoo is over 170 years old and has many old buildings, 12 of which are listed. However, most of the Zoo is accessible for wheelchair users. Tiger Territory, the Aquarium and the Penguin Pool all have disabled access. Please ask Zoo staff for more information.
Catering: There are several restaurants and cafes at the Zoo, providing a variety of options.
Fast Track: From Monday 18th September, London Zoo’s fast-track entrance will be closed Monday to Friday.
Visitors that purchase Fast Track tickets will need to go to the main admissions gate where they will receive priority entry and will not need to queue up with standard-entry ticket holders.
Please note that the Fast Track Entrance will still be open at weekends and for October half-term from 21st – 29th October.
