Kensington Palace has been a proud residence for many members of the Royal Family for over 300 years, including Queen Victoria, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and Diana, Princess of Wales. As a result, a palace tour reveals centuries of absorbing aristocratic history.
The King’s Staircase features a beautiful 18th century wall painting by William Kent, which recreates George I’s court and features a gallery of intriguing characters from that time; The Queen’s State Apartments provide an intimate glimpse of the private rooms occupied by Queen Mary II; and the King’s Gallery, built to contain the finest paintings in the Royal Collection, is the largest, most lavish state apartment at the palace.
A Kensington Palace ticket also provides entry into a selection of excellent exhibitions. Victoria Revealed explores the life and reign of Britain’s longest serving monarch, who was born and spent her childhood in the palace. And Fashion Rules is a collection of royal gowns, showcasing rare and exquisite outfits worn by HM Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret and Diana, Princess of Wales from the 1950s to 1980s.
