Country Cuisine Tour - Scandinavian

It's time to hop-on our country cuisine tour of London as we visit our next stop, with the very finest Scandinavian restaurants and fooderies that the capital has to offer!

With restaurants in Shoreditch and Islington, Rok smokehouse and bar is influenced by the old cooking techniques of Northern Europe, specialising in brined and cured British meats all cooked on fire, served alongside fermented and preserved seasonal UK produce. Dishes on the menu include mussels, scallops, pigeon, goat and potato gratin, and after your main course, chocolatey pudding and ice cream delights await you for your dessert!

Scandinavian Kitchen

Scandinavian Kitchen based in Fitzrovia is your one-stop location for all your Nordic food and drink needs, with both a shop and restaurant for your enjoyment. This unique food experience offers you produce and ingredients from Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland that you might not be able to find in your conventional store. From sweets and snacks, to a deli, to bread, biscuits and baking, you'll feel like you've taken a trip to Northern Europe! If you don't want to show off your culinary skills at home by purchasing their products, there is a cafe/restaurant on site with expertly made Scandinavian cuisine for you to devour. Whether it’s their magnificent crispbreads, tasty salmon and herring, or the more specific salty liquorice varieties, they've got you covered.

Nordic Bakery

It's not just Scandinavian restaurants that you can visit in the capital, as Covent Garden, Soho, Marylebone and Baker Street are home to one of the finest bakeries of Northern European food in London, with the delicious Nordic Bakery! Offering a selection of open rye bread sandwiches, hearty cinnamon buns and cakes, served with excellent coffee, the cafe offers you all the traditional Scandinavian bites for a perfect snack, breakfast, lunch or brunch. You can discover all corners of Scandinavia, from Finnish coffee cake, to classic Swedish tosca cake with crisp almond caramel, to Danish salami and cheese.

Based in Chiswick, Hedone is a Michelin-starred restaurant run by Swedish chef-proprietor Mikael Jonsson and was recently voted the 60th best restaurant on the planet! Hedone's ethos is to find unique ingredients and use them in ways that result in dishes that illustrate a distinctive expression. Everything tends to be cooked to order, so rarely will anything be pre-cooked and as a result you can get a more tailored cuisine. Due to this personal and unique experience, there is no fixed menu, and it's not even uploaded onto their website, so it'll be a surprise when you visit!

Curious Yellow Kafé

In the heart of trendy Hoxton, Curious Yellow Kafé is one of the best Swedish spots for breakfast and snacks! The possibilities when you visit are endless with a Scandinavian breakfast of gravadlax, cheese, ham, pickled gherkin and raw sliced vegetables on offer, as well as an extensive line of Nordic pastries including buns and breads. All the food is served up to the sound of vinyl music playing in the background, meaning it's the ideal place to meet your mates or partner if you want a quick bite to eat in a vibrant atmosphere.

Aquavit in St James's Market offers authentic Nordic-inspired cuisine with a contemporary twist of high-quality, fresh and seasonal ingredients. The menu celebrates all the Nordic region's traditional seafood and meat dishes as well as the art of pastry and breadmaking. Opulent decor, glossily-dressed punters and beautifully crafted cocktails: this is the ultimate take on Nordic dining. You won't struggle for ideas for food with extensive menu options including; All Day, Brunch, Dinner, Dessert and Bar & Wine. Stand-out choices include a crab on rye, trout cooked on the bone heaped with dill, almonds & capers, and a Lomma Beach cocktail, all to satisfy your taste buds.

Right next to Hackney Central Overground Station, Oslo draws upon the Nordic aesthetics to offer high quality food and drinks alongside exciting live music in a unique space on a redeveloped railway station. Oslo is a daytime hub to meet and greet, as well as a night time destination for socialising, eating and enjoying an array of music until very late in the day! Whilst you listen to the fine tunes, you can enjoy steaks, fresh fish, salads, burgers and a selection of cocktails, wines and beers.

A balance between Scandinavian bakeries and coffee shops, and the more formal Scandi dining scene, KuPP in Paddington focuses on sharing the love of the Nordic regions in a British way with an ethos on all day casual dining. Whether it's a long lazy breakfast, boozy night, quick coffee or brunch, all your needs are catered for.
