  • Should I travel with The Original London Sightseeing Tour? YES!

    Are my tour tickets valid for 24 hours/48 hours? YES!

    Our standard tickets are valid for 24 hours48 hours or 72 hours, and this begins when you first validate a ticket or voucher with a member of staff at the bus stop.

    For example, if you validate your ticket at 11am on a Monday, the ticket will be valid for our bus tours, walking tours and on the river cruises until:

    • 24 hour tickets: 11am on the following day - Tuesday
    • 48 hour tickets: 11am on the Wednesday
    • 72 hour tickets: 11am on the Thursday

    The 48 hours and 72 hours run consecutively and cannot be split

    Do you have Walking Tours? YES!

    Yes – we have SIX Walking Tours daily

    THREE are included for FREE with our 24 hour, 48 hour and 72 hour bus tour tickets.

    • Changing of the Guard - departs 10:00am daily from The Original London Visitor Centre
    • Rock ‘n’ Roll - departs 13:00pm daily from The Original London Visitor Centre
    • Jack the Ripper - departs 16:00pm daily from The Original Tour bus stop at the Tower of London on Tower Hill (bus stop 11)

    We also offer THREE additional Walking Tours:

    Will the children enjoy it? YES! Exclusive Kids’ Club included!

    You can relax and enjoy the tour, listening to our commentary, whilst your children are entertained and informed by our highly acclaimed "Kids' Club" commentary and their FREE London activity packs. The Original Tour is the only tour operator to offer audio commentaries specially designed for children. Every child gets a 'passport' to London and a fantastic free fun pack with activity/quiz book. Look out for the great Kids’ Club competition. The Kids’ Club commentary channel is available in English on our Yellow Route, Orange route and Blue Route. Activity packs can be collected from any of our main tour start points or from The Original London Visitor Centre near Trafalgar Square.

    What is the City Sampler ticket?

    The City Sampler is a one-day bus tour ticket at a lower price point and gives you access to the hop-on hop-off buses across all 7 routes for the same day only - perfect for when you have just one day in London and want to sample the best of the city's sights. 

    City Sampler tickets can be bought online, at the Original London Visitor Centre or from our on-street staff only. They are not available for sale from our bus drivers. 

    City Sampler tickets do not include our walking tours or the Thames river cruise. These are only included in our 24-hour and 48-hour tickets.

    Is my Original Tour ticket valid on all 7 routes? YES!

    You are free to travel on all of our tour routes with just one ticket.

    We offer 7 sightseeing tour routes, all of which are included in your Original Tour ticket.

    Are there different languages available on your bus tours? YES!

    Our Yellow Route provides commentaries in English.

    Our Blue, Orange and Yellow Routes provide digitally-recorded commentary in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Portuguese, Mandarin, Arabic & Brazilian Portuguese.

    We also offer a unique Kids’ Club commentary channel on our Yellow, Orange and Blue Routes.

    Your 24-hour, 48-hour and 72-hour ticket is valid across all our routes, walking tours and on the river cruise.

    Will we see the major sights? YES!

    Our tours are the best way to see all that London has to offer – keep an eye out for over 150 historic London buildings, landmarks and attractions along our tour routes!

    From spectacular panoramic views whilst crossing 4 bridges over the River Thames (2 bridges Mon-Fri), to the Tower of London, Big Ben, The Shard, St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, Madame Tussauds, Tower Bridge, The London Eye and much more; we will show you the best of London.

    Can we take a Thames River Cruise? YES!

    A fantastic river cruise pass is included completely FREE with your 24-hour, 48-hour and 72-hour tour ticket.

    The river cruise tickets are issued at the same time as your bus tickets and you may use them as many times as you like between Westminster and Tower Piers.

    The City Cruises river cruise staff will collect / tear off the river cruise portion of your ticket the first time you board their boats. To use the river cruise more than once simply show your valid Original Tour bus ticket each time you board.

    With our extended 48-hour and 72-hour tickets, the cruise pass is also extended – you can travel from Westminster Pier all the way to historic Greenwich and back.

    Please note, the City Sampler one-day bus tour ticket does not include a river cruise pass. 

    Can you tell me how long the tour takes? YES!

    The Yellow tour routes take approximately 2.5-3 hours and the Blue tour route takes about 90 minutes, if you stay on-board for a full loop. Alternatively, you may hop on and off and re-join the tour at any Original Tour bus stop. Our buses run approximately every 15-20 minutes, and in the summer months the buses can be as frequent as every 5 minutes (on the Yellow Route). Click here for our timetable.

    Timings do sometimes vary depending on road conditions and events. To help you plan your day, please check our Latest News page for key events, and our homepage for any service notices. On your day of travel our friendly Visitor Centre and on-street sales staff are available to help with the most up to date information.

    Are your buses wheelchair accessible? YES!

    100% of our buses are wheelchair-accessible. On each bus one ‘reference wheelchair’ Class 1 or Class 2 (maximum dimensions 3'11” (L) X 2'4" (W) X 4'5"(H)) may be carried in the designated space, facing forwards using the wheel clamps or belts fitted by law.  Class 3 wheelchairs are not permitted at all on buses as they are too large to be carried.  Additional Class I wheelchairs may be carried, where space permits, if they are folded and placed in appropriate stowage areas.  Although it is not necessary, we would recommend that customers who require wheelchair access go to either our Victoria (Grosvenor Gardens) or Piccadilly Circus (Coventry Street) start points as there are additional staff on hand should any further assistance be required.

    Can I bring my child’s pushchair or pram on board the bus? YES!

    Pushchairs and small prams can be carried on our buses but must be folded before boarding. They can be stored in the wheelchair space, providing it is not required by a wheelchair user. Unfolded pushchairs or prams cannot be transported on our buses unfortunately.

    Do you have WiFi on the bus?

    Yes, we offer complimentary WiFi on our buses so you can stay connected throughout your tour. 

    Can I request a refund?

    All sales are final and tickets cannot be exchanged or money refunded. Redress may only be given where The Original Tour is specifically at fault.

    We will make every effort to maintain a regular and frequent service, but do not guarantee this.

    No refunds will be made in respect of lost, destroyed or defaced tickets of any description.

    The Original Tour shall not be in any way liable to the ticket holder for loss, damage, inconvenience or delay in consequence of any failure, alteration, suspension, cancellation or termination of service.

  • Can you reprint bus tickets if they are lost?

    Please keep your ticket safe as unfortunately we are unable to reprint tickets or accept receipts as proof of purchase.

    What is the City Sampler ticket?

    The City Sampler is a one-day bus tour ticket at a lower price point and gives you access to the hop-on hop-off buses across all 7 routes for the same day only - perfect for when you have just one day in London and want to sample the best of the city's sights. 

    City Sampler tickets can be bought online, at the Original London Visitor Centre or from our on-street staff only. They are not available for sale from our bus drivers. 

    City Sampler tickets do not include our walking tours or the Thames river cruise. These are only included in our 24-hour and 48-hour tickets.

    Do you offer package deals combining the bus tour and attractions? YES!

    We offer discounted Combine & Save deals that include The Original Tour & a top London attraction. Tour and attraction vouchers will be sent to you as separate vouchers for convenience, so that you can enjoy the tour and visit attractions on separate days if you wish.

    Can I purchase tickets on the bus from the driver? YES!

    You may purchase tickets from our bus drivers at any stop.

    24 hour tickets are £32 per Adult and £15 per Child (£29 per adult and £13.50 per child online).

    48 hour tickets are £42 per Adult and £20 per Child (£38 per adult and £18.0 per child online).

    48 hour tickets are £50 per Adult and £25 per Child (£45 per adult and £22.50 per child online).

     

    In order to maintain a steady service our bus drivers can only accept cash. Our on-street sales staff accept cash or card payment and are located at our main departure points. 

    Do you offer group bookings? YES!

    Group bookings are available on our website for groups of 10+ who would like to join our hop-on hop-off tour for 24 hours or 48 hours. These can be booked from our groups page.

    We also offer Panoramic (non-stop) and private hire tours and can organise group visits to London's top attractions.

    Can I Purchase Child Tickets? Yes!

    Please note children up to 15 years old must be accompanied at all times by a paying adult when travelling on our tours. Children attempting to travel unaccompanied will not be allowed to board the bus.

    However, Child tickets can be bought individually (separate to adult tickets) on this website to allow for changes in your group number. 

    Do I need to print my prepaid voucher?

    Please check the specific instructions directly on your voucher.

    Most ticket purchased directly via our website do not need to be printed, provided you have the QR code on the voucher which is available to scan.

    Most third-party vouchers need to be printed in order be redeemed.  If in doubt it is better to print your prepaid voucher as we are unable to print vouchers.

    How and when do I get the river cruise tickets?

    The complimentary hop-on hop-off river cruise is available with all 24-hour48-hour and 72-hour bus tour tickets.

    When you purchase your bus tour ticket or redeem your prepaid voucher with us, you will also receive a river cruise ticket. 

    The river cruise ticket can only be redeemed with City Cruises at the Westminster Pier or Tower Pier.

    City Cruises will collect your river cruise ticket when you take your first journey. You can then continue to hop-on and hop-off the river cruise with your Original Tour bus tour ticket within the 24-hour or 48-hour validity period. 

    I am registered disabled - do my carer and I receive any discounts?

    The Original Tour is pleased to offer a 30% discount to both registered disabled customers and a carer on all our standard tour tickets.

    If you are interested in purchasing any attraction tickets, we recommend contacting the attraction directly as their prices and policy may differ from ours.

    In order to redeem this 30% discount, please send supporting documents to our Head Office at least 3 days before you wish to take your tour.  Documents can be sent either by email to info@theoriginaltour.com or by sending photocopies to:

    Please include a contact telephone number so that we can contact you to process your ticket over the telephone.  The ticket confirmation will then be emailed to you to print or show to a member of staff on your mobile device when you start your tour.

     

     

    My child is under 5 years old - do they need to buy a tour ticket?

    Children under 5 years old travel free when accompanied by a paying adult on The Original Tour. 

    Under 5's are also able to travel free of charge with our complimentary river cruise.

    If you are planning to visit any of our partner attractions, please note that age restrictions and ticket policies vary so please do check before purchasing tickets.

    Can I bring my pet on the bus?

    Guide dogs and service dogs are welcome aboard.

    Any other (well-behaved) pets are at the driver’s discretion and subject to space being available.

    Can I board the bus at any one of your 100 bus stops? YES!

    With your downloaded or printed voucher, you can board the bus at any one of our 60+ conveniently located bus stops around central London.

    Tickets purchased through our third-party agents may need to be redeemed at The Original London Visitor Centre near Trafalgar Square. Please read your voucher carefully for instructions, as our on-street staff may not be able to welcome you on-board our buses without the correctly redeemed tickets.

    Where can I start my tour with my prepaid voucher?

    You need to redeem your prepaid voucher for a tour ticket and (in most cases) this can be done at any of our staffed bus stops or on board any of our buses.

    Tickets purchased through our third-party agents may need to be redeemed at The Original London Visitor Centre near Trafalgar Square. Please read your voucher carefully for instructions, as our on-street staff may not be able to welcome you on-board our buses without the correctly redeemed tickets.

    Will we be able to hop-on and hop-off? YES!

    Your tour tickets are completely unrestricted. You can travel on any of our iconic double-decker buses and change between the routes as many times as you like.

    Each route makes frequent stops - simply hop-off at any of our 60+ bus stops, then hop back on at the bus stop of your choice.

    Will I recognise your buses? YES!

    From 2017 and throughout 2018, the style of The Original Tour buses is changing. Clients are welcome on all types of buses - below are images of our tour bus liveries to assist you. Your ticket is valid on all of these buses, including those that have the City Sightseeing London branding.

    Will I recognise The Original Tour bus stops? YES!

    Look out for 'The Original Tour' marked on our own bus stops or regular public London bus stops. There may also be a coloured triangle denoting the route which stops there. Below are some images to assist you.

    Can we take a Thames River Cruise? YES!

    Can I use my London attraction vouchers on different days? YES!

    Validate your attraction eVoucher on any date, at any time with our staff at the bus stop within 6 months of purchase.

    After redeeming your attraction voucher with our on-street staff or at our Visitor Centre, you are given 30 days to use your Madame Tussauds, London Eye, London Dungeon & SEA LIFE London Aquarium tickets, 14 days to use your St Paul’s Cathedral tickets, and 7 days to use your Kensington Palace and Tower of London tickets. Your attraction vouchers do not need to be redeemed and used on the same day as your bus tour voucher.

    Do I exchange my eVoucher before boarding the bus? YES!

    You need to validate your eVoucher before travelling on any route – this is when your 24 hours, 48 hours or 72 hours start.

    You can validate your eVoucher with any of our on-street staff, or at our Visitor Centre. If there is no staff member at the bus stop you wish to board at, it is not a problem.You may board the bus with a valid downloaded eVoucher on your mobile or a valid printed eVoucher and our driver will take you to the nearest validation point.

    We recommend the following validation points: Piccadilly Circus (Coventry Street), Victoria (Grosvenor Gardens), Kensington Palace Gate, Russell Square (Woburn Place), Westminster Bridge, Queen’s Gallery, Charing Cross Road, Bayswater Road, Parliament Street, Aldwych, York Road or alternatively at The Original London Visitor Centre, near Trafalgar Square.

    Is there somewhere I can leave my luggage while I’m on-board The Original Tour? YES!

    The space we have on our buses is required for wheelchair users. You can follow this link which lists places for you to leave luggage safely in London.

    Can my Guide Dog accompany me on the tour? YES!

    Passengers travelling with a guide dog are welcome on-board our bus tours. We simply ask that they do not obstruct any walkway on the bus or distract our driver. Guide dogs are also permitted on the included Thames river cruise.

    Do you accept vouchers on mobile phones & tablets? YES!

    EVouchers purchased on this website can be shown on your mobile phone or tablet screen. A link will be emailed to you and you will need to download the ticket so please ensure you have access to a 3G or 4G network, or WiFi to do this.

    When you are ready to start the tour, simply show the eVoucher to our staff at any one of our 60+ bus stops. They will scan the barcode, and print your tour and/or attraction tickets.

    How do I find the nearest bus stop?

    You can find the nearest bus stop in a number of ways. 

    All bus stops are numbered on our tour map, which also shows the main road names and top sightseeing locations and attractions. 

    With the help of our app, you can use your phone location to navigate your way to the closest bus stop. Download the app today on Google Play for Android or the App Store for Apple.

     

    What happens if it rains?

    The Original Tour operates year-round (except Christmas day) come rain or shine.

    Many of our buses offer a canopy roof at the front of the upper deck and our commentary can be heard on the lower deck.

    Please dress appropriately for the weather to ensure you are comfortable throughout the tour.

    Umbrellas are not allowed to be open on the upper deck due to possible safety risks.

    What happens if there are road closures or traffic?

    The Original Tour operates in one of the world’s busiest cities, and our service can be affected by events, incidents and traffic conditions in London that are simply beyond our control. 

    We will make every effort to maintain a regular and frequent service. 

    At busy times, we recommend taking the river cruise and three walking tours which are included with our 24-hour, 48-hour and 72-hour tour tickets, as these are not generally affected by road conditions.

    Can the river cruise and walking tours be taken anytime?

    The walking tours must be taken while your bus tour ticket is valid.

    For 24-hour tickets, the river cruise must be taken within the 24 hours while your bus tour ticket is valid.

    For 48-hour and 72-hour tickets, the river cruise must be taken within 48 hours of activating your bus tour ticket. 

  • Are my tour tickets valid for 24 hours/48 hours? YES!

    Our standard tickets are valid for 24 hours48 hours or 72 hours, and this begins when you first validate a ticket or voucher with a member of staff at the bus stop.

    For example, if you validate your ticket at 11am on a Monday, the ticket will be valid for our bus tours, walking tours and on the river cruises until:

    • 24 hour tickets: 11am on the following day - Tuesday
    • 48 hour tickets: 11am on the Wednesday
    • 72 hour tickets: 11am on the Thursday

    The 48 hours and 72 hours run consecutively and cannot be split

    Do you offer package deals combining the bus tour and attractions? YES!

    We offer discounted Combine & Save deals that include The Original Tour & a top London attraction. Tour and attraction vouchers will be sent to you as separate vouchers for convenience, so that you can enjoy the tour and visit attractions on separate days if you wish.

    Do you offer fast-track entry tickets for London's top attractions? YES!

    We offer a wide range of Fast-Track, Priority Entrance and upgrade options. You can purchase attraction tickets with us online, by telephone, at our Original London Visitor Centre or from any member of staff on the day of travel. Our exclusive Combine & Save package deals are only available online, or in advance by telephone via our bookings line on +44 (0)20 8877 2120 (Monday – Friday, 9.00am – 5.30pm GMT).
